Seniors in the Cherry Blossoms

Even though I’ve taken other photos before, and had other times that I could term as “photo sessions” I think of this session as my first one. Mainly because it was the first one where I was using Manual Mode on my camera. Oh boy – Manual Mode. In preparation for this session I had just finished an online photography course. Along with manual mode it taught me a lot about how to effectively use lighting, how to compose photos, and how to structure a photo session. All in all, it really upped my photography game.

My sister Erin is a senior this year and I was able to convince her, and a couple of her friends to let me try out my new skills on them. We found a cherry orchard in Payson with some really unique trees and did a joint senior session. I really liked that they had each other there to make them laugh, smile, and most importantly help me know what poses to have each of them do. Friends know when you look your best or when you don’t – if you can bring friends, or a mom along during senior photos do it.
